Frequently Asked Questions about INtunes Checking
Rewards/Qualifications
What are the “rewards” for INtunes Checking?
- iTunes® credits up to $5 per qualification cycle.
- Nationwide ATM fee refunds up to $25 per qualification cycle.
What do I have to do to get the "rewards"?
- Access online banking at least once each qualification cycle.
- Enroll in and receive e-Statements (a valid e-mail address is required).
- Have at least 10 signature-based Interra debit card purchases post and clear your INtunes checking account each qualification cycle (excluding ATM withdrawals).
Is there an INtunes Checking sign-up bonus?
Yes...How does a $20 iTunes credit sound? That’s right; you’ll get an INtunes Checking sign-up bonus credit of $20, awarded at account opening or upon changing your account status from another Interra checking account to INtunes.
What happens if I don’t meet the qualifications for INtunes Checking?
Don’t worry. Your INtunes Checking account is still a free account. You just won’t have any ATM fees refunded or earn any iTunes credits for the cycle. Just start again the next cycle to meet your qualifications, and earn your rewards.
If I meet the qualifications, when will I receive my "rewards"?
- ATM fees are refunded on the last day of each statement cycle.
- iTunes "credits" earned for a completed cycle are reimbursed on the last day of the month. Credits are posted to your INtunes checking account for purchases made using the debit card tied to your INtunes account via iTunes. Credits are issued up to the dollar amount earned that have not expired.
How often do the qualifications have to be met to earn ATM refunds and iTunes credits?
Each
qualification cycle.
What is the qualification cycle?
The
qualification cycle is a period beginning one day prior to the first day of the current statement cycle through one day prior to the close of the current statement cycle.
For example, a qualification cycle beginning April 30 would end May 30. The next qualification cycle would begin May 31 and end June 29. All other qualification cycles follow this same pattern.
If my account balance goes negative, will my INtunes account still qualify?
Yes, as long as you meet the qualifications outlined above.
If I miss my qualifications by only one debit card transaction, can I still get iTunes credits and ATM refunds anyway?
Unfortunately, no. However your account is still free and there are no service charges.
If I fail to meet the qualifications during this cycle, do I still have a chance to qualify during the next cycle?
Yes, of course!
What if I have to order a debit card and it doesn’t arrive until late in the current qualification cycle and I don’t have enough time to earn my first month’s rewards?
Unfortunately, if you do not meet the requirements, you are not eligible for the rewards. However, this does not affect the $20 sign-up bonus. So regardless of whether or not you meet the requirements during the first cycle, you will still earn the bonus and get downloads reimbursed.
If you already have an Interra debit card, you will not receive a new one.
How will I know if my account has met the reward qualifications at the end of the cycle?
You will receive an INtunes Checking e-mail that will let you know whether or not you met the qualifications.
At any time, you can also log into Interra Online banking to monitor and review your account activity to ensure that you meet the minimum account qualifications.
iTunes Credits
How do the iTunes credits work?
Sign-up Bonus
Upon opening your INtunes account or switching from a regular checking account, you will be given a $20 sign-up bonus...
Regular Credits
Each cycle that your account qualifies, you will earn up to $5.00 worth of iTunes download reimbursements. You will be notified via e-mail as to the status of your qualifications. Earned iTunes credits are valid for 60 days.
In order to utilize the credits, you must use the Interra debit card associated with your INtunes account to purchase downloads through iTunes. At the end of each cycle, your INtunes account will be reimbursed for iTunes download purchases – up to $5.00 – if they qualified.
Is there a minimum balance requirement in order to receive iTunes credits?
There is no minimum balance requirement associated with iTunes credits.
iTunes credits are based on meeting the accounts requirements, as outlined above, and purchases made through iTunes. If no purchases are made through iTunes, there is nothing to credit back to your account.
Is there a service charge for an INtunes Checking account?
No, there is never a service charge for an INtunes Checking account. It is always a free account.
Do iTunes credits expire?
Yes…use or lose. The iTunes credits you earn each qualification cycle must be used within 60 days. The sign-up bonus credits also expires after 60 days.
How do I make iTunes purchases?
Just use the Interra debit card connected to your INtunes checking account to purchase downloads through iTunes.
If you purchased iTunes during the qualification cycle, you will receive iTunes credits back into your account for the amount you purchased – up to $5.00 – at the end of the cycle. Obviously, if you don't make any purchases through iTunes, there is nothing that can be credited back to you.
You will receive a notification stating you have $5.00 in iTunes credits to use within 60 days.
ATM Refunds
Do I have to do anything in order to get my ATM fee refunds?
No, other than meeting the stated qualifications. ATM fee refunds* are automatically credited on the last day of the month.
If I use another financial institution’s ATM and pay a fee, when will I get my refund?
If you meet your qualifications, the ATM fees will be refunded at the end of the statement cycle in which you incur the ATM fees.
Do I get fee refunds when I use an ATM at an international location?
No, nationwide only.
If I use my Interra debit card at an ATM, will that transaction count toward my qualifications?
No, you need to make signature-based purchases to meet the qualifications.
* Please refer to the Terms & Conditions for ATM fees greater than $4.99 in a single transaction.
Debit Card Transactions
What is a signature-based transaction?
Transactions process one of two ways with your debit card. One is PIN-based, when you enter your 4-digit PIN. All other transactions are considered "
signature-based," whether you actually sign or not. Frequently, for example, a debit card transaction at a service station is a "signature-based" transaction, but you don't actually sign the receipt. In order for a debit card transaction to count toward the minimum of 10 per qualification cycle, be sure you choose the signature-based method.
Debit or credit?
A signature-based debit card transaction processes through the MasterCard system, even though the funds are withdrawn from your checking account. If you want a signature-based transaction, always choose "credit."
Why does Interra encourage, or even “reward” signature-based transactions?
Signature-based transactions are more efficient and cost the credit union less than those processed through the PIN-based ATM network. We are able to pass that savings on to you through programs like INtunes Checking.
What is a “settled transaction”?
A settled transaction is one that has posted to your account. When you use your Interra debit card, the merchant places a memo hold on your account in the amount of your purchase. It can take up to three business days before the transaction posts or clears. Only those signature-based debit card transactions that are "settled" during a qualification cycle "count" toward the current cycle. Transactions that are "pending" at the end of a cycle will count toward the next cycle.
When logged into Interra Online banking: Active Holds, as detailed on main page, have not "settled". "Settled" transactions appear in your INtunes transaction summary, with a description of "SIGNATURE BASED."
May I “carry forward” debit purchases in excess of the required number to the next cycle?
No, you must meet all three qualifications each monthly qualification cycle.
If I use my Interra debit card at an ATM, will that transaction count towards my qualifications?
No. Only signature-based transactions/purchases count and they must be posted to the account by the end of the qualification cycle.
