What is Interra Online Deposit?
From your office or your home, this service allows you to remotely deposit paper checks you receive into your Interra account(s) by electronically transmitting a digital images of the paper checks to the credit union for deposit.
How can I register for Interra Online Deposit?
- You can register to use Interra Online Deposit by logging into Interra Online banking.
- Click on the Online Deposit tab, then select Interra Online Deposits.
- Select the account that you would like to deposit funds to from the drop down, and click Next.
- A screen will appear in a new window (pop-up windows must be enabled for this to occur) with the online deposit disclosure. After reading and accepting the Interra Credit Union Online Deposit Disclosure and Agreement and Exhibit A, your registration will be processed. Please allow up to two business days to process your registration.
- You will receive an e-mail notification to let you know if your registration is approved. It will also let you know your frequency and dollar limitations of the Interra Online Deposit service.
What are the hardware and software specifications for Interra Online Deposit?
In order to use Interra Online Deposit, you must have the following:
- Microsoft® Windows® XP with Internet Explorer® 6+ or Vista with Internet Explorer 7+ or Firefox 2+
- MAC OS X 10.5 with Safari 3+ or Firefox 3
- High-speed Internet connection
- Document scanner or digital camera (2.0 mega pixel quality or higher).

- Mac* OS X 10.5 with Safari 3.1 or Firefox® 3
*Requires Java runtime environment v1.5+
What does it cost to use Interra Online Deposit?
The service is available at no cost to if you process up to ten items per calendar month. If you exceed ten items, there is a $25 charge for that month, and a 3-cent per item fee over 10 items, deducted on the first day of the following month.
How do I process a deposit via Interra Online Deposit?
Once approved, you can start scanning your checks in 4 Easy Steps:
- Make sure the back of the check is endorsed to include:
- The words "For deposit only at Interra Credit Union"
- The account number to which the check is being deposited
- The website address www.interracu.com
- Today's date (mm/dd/yyyy)
- Your signature
- You may use an endorsement stamp in lieu of a written endorsement.
- Please note: If the back of the check is not properly endorsed, Interra Credit Union reserves the right to reject the check for deposit.
- Login to Interra Online and click on the Online Deposit tab.
- Choose the account you would like the check(s) to be deposited to.
- If using Online Deposit for the first time, see Online Deposit Registration above.
- SCANNERS: Use the Choose Scanner button to choose the appropriate scanner.* Enter the total amount of the check(s) you’d like to deposit. Then, using your own scanner, simply scan the front and back of the check, clicking the Finish button after each scan.
DIGITAL CAMERAS: Enter the total amount of the check(s) you’d like to deposit. Then, take a photo of the front and back of each check (.jpg or .png format) and upload them into the system, clicking Finish after uploading each side of the check.
- Then click the Continue button to go to the Deposit Review step. You will receive an e-mail once your deposit has been submitted for review and processing. After you receive that e-mail (usually within 24 hours), you must write PROCESSED on the check. Please store your deposited items in a safe place and destroy the original check after a period of 60 days.

Are there any types of checks that cannot be deposited using Interra Online Deposit?
The following items cannot be submitted for deposit using Interra Online Deposit:
- U. S. Savings Bonds
- Any item drawn on my account or my affiliate’s account
- Any item that is stamped with a “non-negotiable” watermark
- Any item that contains evidence of alternation to the information on the check
- Any item issued by a financial institution in a foreign country or not payable in U.S. dollars
- Any item that is incomplete (i.e., missing the date, missing the payee, etc.)
- Checks previously endorsed by Interra Credit Union
- Any item that is "stale dated" or "post dated"
- Any third party check (i.e., any item that is made payable to another party and then endorsed to me by such party).
How quickly will the deposit be credited to my account?
Checks submitted for deposit, and received by Interra, prior to 3:00 pm Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, will be credited to your account on the same Business Day. Items received by Interra after 3:00 pm EST on any Business Day will be credited to your account on the next business day. Business Days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
How soon will I have access to the funds from my deposit?
How will I know if a deposit is rejected or there are problems with my deposit?
You will receive e-mail notification of the nature of the rejection/problem and a description of the solution, if there is one (i.e., rescan check).
How long should I hold on to my check(s) after depositing via Interra Online Deposit?
Once you have scanned your check(s) and your deposit has been credited to your account, you should securely store the original check(s) for 60 days before destroying it/them.
How long will the image of a deposited check be accessible?
You can access an image in Interra Online Deposit account history for 18 months.
What if I decide to terminate the Interra Online Deposit service?
You may, by written request, terminate the service. However, you are still responsible for all transactions performed on your account.
