Interra's Hometown Project Sets New Record

February 3, 2020 – Interra Credit Union, its staff and members raised more than $45,000 to a variety of agencies across a six-county area during the 26th annual Hometown Giving holiday service project. A record-setting year, it represents a $1,000-plus increase over 2018.

In addition, hundreds of boxes of Angel Tree wish list items have been distributed as additional support to the agencies and organizations that help those in need. The Hometown Giving project included a corporate donation of $25,000, staff fundraisers added more than $12,000 and members donated nearly $4,000 through the Merry Match initiative. Interra’s staff also helped raise funds for the Goshen Salvation Army and the Plymouth Salvation Army, donating approximately 50 hours of volunteer time to ring bells.

Interra sponsored and staff members volunteered to host parties at Boys and Girls clubs and Bashor Children’s Home, work at Soup of Success, hosted a blood drive and purchased and delivered gifts through adopt-a-family programs.

The recipients of the money raised and the wish list items collected included Agape House, ADEC, ARC Opportunities, Bashor Children’s Home, Boys and Girls Clubs of Bremen, Goshen, Elkhart, Middlebury Nappanee and Plymouth; Bremen Bags, Cancer Resources of Elkhart County, CAPS, Cardinal Services, Center for Healing and Hope, Church Community Services/Soup of Success, Clothes and Food Basket, Elderhaus, Elijah Haven, Elkhart County Council on Aging, Fairfield Food Pantry, Family Christian Development Center, Five Little Stones, Lakeland Youth Center, Lighthouse Ministries, New Start Ministries (shelter) , RETA, Ryan's Place, Salvation Army, St. Joe Valley Blue Star Mothers, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Spa Women’s Ministry, Syracuse Food Pantry, The Post, The Villages (foster family support), Wakarusa Elementary School and The Window.
